What's It About?

Rising numbers of young people are without a job or college place after falling victim to the recession, reduced university places and increases in fees figures show. Researchers have claimed that many young people could be "stuck in a rut" for years after bearing the brunt of a fall in jobs. This session examines the research and looks at ways to help young people avoid that rut.

Learning Outcomes

* To establish who are the young people at risk of NEET
* To understand how and why young people become NEET.
* To understand what psychological theories and research around employment
* To include the role of parents attitudes
* To learn how to addressing the needs and improving the outcomes of young people at risk
* To see examples of good practice in supporting young people at risk
* To identify ways to support young people once they are in education, employment or training
