What's It About?

Do teenagers prefer the companionship of friends and peers to that of their family? Do peers and friends place demands and influences on a teenager that are quite the opposite of their family? This session looks at the role of parents, the increased importance of friends and peers in a young persons life, and how to support young people in their friendship building skills.

* To learn the impact and influences of friends and peers
* To understand difference between peers and friends
* To have considered difference in importance and influence of friends and peers compared with parents
* To identify ways to support young people’s friendship building skills
